Foreign, Technically - On Mental Endurance
This week I nearly lost a win to a moment of daydreaming.
Where I Went
Got a facial at the Sisley Flagship in the 8ème— my skin felt like silk afterward. I’ll definitely go back.
A quick visit to see Korean Beauty, Story of a Phenomenon at the Guimet Museum. It’s a small but mighty show — the kind you can walk through after lunch to get your steps in. One detail I found interesting: many trending K-beauty brands reference aesthetic routines that have been in practice since the 15th century.
What I Did
Finally won a round at Mahjong. Winners receive a tiny toy duck so I chose hot pink. The amount of mental endurance required to win as a novice is a lot; mine almost slipped through my hands during a brief moment of daydreaming.
It’s kind of like training a puppy— the concentration needed to complete even a simple command like “sit” can result in hours of downtime afterward. The fatigue is real. My brain felt very much the same.

What I Ate
An international week: Greek mezze at Anna, and Colombian cocktails at Finka. Smokeless barbeque— yakiniku in Japanese— at IIniku, the selection of wagyu beef was impressive and delicious. 10/10.

What I Bought
Silver fish knives and utensil rests (very French) from my neighborhood weekend flea market; a pair of MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon sneakers and the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask my facialist used earlier in the week— I love it.
Still in broochmania, I picked up three different vintage bee brooches in varying sizes and designs. I recently saw someone style them on the back collar of a blazer— I may try clustering in a similar way for a cool touch.
What My Dogs Did
Enjoyed uplifting spring walks and plenty of time outside.
Notes from Paris, to follow.
